Fantasy Football Guide 2021: NFC sleepers, targets, busts, strategies

Historically speaking, quarterbacks don’t repeat the type of numbers Aaron Rodgers put up last year. Then again, there aren’t many quarterbacks like Rodgers. If he plays pissed off again this year — and why wouldn’t he — he can be fantasy’s QB1. He’s a prime target as QB7 in fantasy drafts. Just don’t expect his performances to be exactly on par from last season. I’d consider Jordan Love late in dynasty drafts, too.
As of two weeks ago, Aaron Jones was being drafted too low. Now, he has an ADP of RB7. That’s fine. I think his ceiling is RB5, which was his finish last season. Why can’t he do that again? Don’t tell me you’re scared off by A.J. Dillon. At most, I expect Dillon to take fewer than 10 carries away from Jones. Even if Dillon takes away short-yardage situations too, Jones should secure the targets vacated by Jamaal Williams.
In PPR leagues, I’d gladly sacrifice a few carries for a few targets. For a running back who played 60 percent of the Packers’ snaps in 2020, Jones seems to be good enough to stay as a weekly contributor for your fantasy teams.
I’ll keep it simple: Davante Adams is the overall WR1. I’d probably prefer a running back unless Adams fell to, say, 10 or 11. My preference is to snag my running backs early, so I wouldn’t be opposed to Adams or Calvin Ridley in the first two rounds. It seems like Marquez Valdes-Scantling has locked in the WR2 job, so I’d take definitely a flier on him later.
Robert Tonyan’s claim to fame last season was touchdowns. He and Travis Kelce led the position with 11. You can expect this number to dip because of Aaron Rodgers. No quarterback has ever put up those types of stats consistently throughout two seasons. Therefore, we should expect Rodgers to throw fewer touchdowns, which impacts Tonyan the most.
