San Francisco 49ers Fantasy Football Guide

I have a sneaking suspicion Jimmy Garoppolo can actually be a starter for you… for like, two games. At this point, we’re all waiting for Trey Lance to take over. Lance’s ability already makes him one of my favorite rookies in the class, but pairing him with Kyle Shanahan and these offensive playmakers? Oh boy, that should be fun. I’ve found myself drafting Lance late in many drafts.

Raheem Mostert has a higher ADP, but I’ve been all over Trey Sermon. For one, he’s just good. And two, Mostert is 28 and has played only one full season since joining the 49ers in 2016. Mostert can be a good flex until Sermon comes in, which may be a bit longer than we think, but every sign suggests this will be Sermon’s backfield by next season. And yes, I tried my best to avoid not one, but two Trey puns.

I love Brandon Aiyuk as a player. I like him as a fantasy option. He was WR18 in points per game last season, including three straight weeks of 20+ points near the season’s end. Keep in mind Aiyuk didn’t have to compete with Deebo Samuel and George Kittle for targets all season long, though. The latter two missed their fair share of games, which may be bolstering Aiyuk’s stock a bit too much. As for Samuel, it’s hard to trust him with his health issues, despite his talent.

The same could be said on a smaller scale with Kittle. I’d need to be very comfortable in the first two players on my roster before I take Kittle. As talented as he is, I’d prefer Darren Waller, though I’d love to wait and snag T.J. Hockenson or Kyle Pitts.
