Ranking every MVP winner in NFL history: 37. Patrick Mahomes

Stats:

  • 14,152 passing yards
  • 114 passing touchdowns
  • 24 interceptions

It’s incredibly early in the career of Patrick Mahomes and currently, he only has one MVP to his name. That said, we have a strong feeling that by the time he wraps up his career, Peyton Manning’s record-setting five MVPs will be a thing of the past.

No quarterback in the history of the NFL has accomplished what Mahomes has so soon. In his first season as the starter in 2018, Mahomes threw 50 touchdown passes, over 5,000 yards, took home the league MVP, and led his team to the AFC Championship Game. In year two, Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl and just this past season, they were back in the biggest game of the season before falling short.

While he might be a long way away from being considered a true all-time great, he’s on the right path. Just recently, Mahomes became the fastest player in NFL history to throw for 10,000 yards.

The injury bug placed to the side, if Mahomes can avoid missing significant time, he’ll pass just about everyone on this list.
