Ranking every MVP winner in NFL history: 8. Aaron Rodgers

Stats:

  • 51,245 passing yards
  • 412 touchdowns
  • 89 interceptions

Aaron Rodgers patiently waited his turn.

For three long seasons, Rodgers sat, learned, and absorbed everything that Brett Favre had to offer. Once he was given his turn, he took full advantage.

Just two years after getting his shot, Rodgers led the Green Bay Packers to a Super Bowl win. And while he hasn’t been able to get to that big stage since then, he’s put up monster numbers in the meanwhile.

Currently, Rodgers has the fifth most 4,000 passing yard seasons with nine. He’s also thrown for the 11th most passing yards with 51,245 and the seventh most passing touchdowns with 412. Those numbers, coupled with a league MVP award, make Rodgers a first-ballot Hall of Famer. But, his career has been somewhat disappointing at times.

With Rodgers considered the most talented quarterback in history, at least by many, the fact that he only has one Super Bowl ring and appearance, it feels like he could have and should have more.
