Ranking every MVP winner in NFL history: 4. John Elway

Stats:

  • 51,475
  • 300 passing touchdowns
  • 226 interceptions

John Elway achieved just about everything an NFL quarterback could during his career.

Before he hung up his cleats and tucked away his shoulder pads in the closet, Elway wrapped up his career with nine Pro Bowl selections, surprisingly no All-Pros, an MVP award in 1987, after throwing for 3,198 yards and 19 touchdowns. Elway also nabbed two Super Bowl rings during the final two seasons of his career.

Elway was big, strong, but not overly accurate though, putting together only three seasons with a completion percentage over 60%. But even with some accuracy issues at times, Elway was one of the best QBs ever. The 2004 Hall of Fame still holds top 15 spots in touchdown passes with 300, good for 12th, and passing yards, 51,475, good for 10th.
