Dallas Cowboys player who could make or break season No. 1: Dak Prescott, QB
As much as the rest of the team means to the success of the Dallas Cowboys, no one will determine their fate more than No. 4. Dak Prescott is entering his sixth season as the team’s starting quarterback and over the course of the last two years, he’s really began to silence some of the doubters.
In 2019, Prescott had 4,902 yards passing which was one shy of the franchise record set by Tony Romo in 2012. Last year, Prescott was averaging 371.2 yards per game which projects to 5,939 yards on the year. There was no way he was keeping up at that pace but he was still moving the ball at an insane pace — although he did have too many turnovers which he knows he can clean up.
Even with him going off, the team was struggling, and then when Prescott broke his ankle in Week 5, that was all she wrote. Due to playing in the worst division in the league, Dallas was somehow in the division until a Week 17 loss to New York but even if they somehow won the NFC East, they would have been smoked by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Looking ahead to 2021, the Cowboys have tried to fix their entire roster and they needed to. But none of that will matter if Prescott is unable to stay healthy or if he doesn’t play at a high level.
