NFL Win Total Predictions: AFC North

Baltimore Ravens: 11.0 wins – Over

Most people are looking at the AFC North as a three-headed monster and, without question, the Ravens are deservedly part of that monster. Having said that, I don’t see one of the three supposed contenders living up to that, which makes an easier path for the Ravens to hit the over. Lamar Jackson will have a bounce-back year and the passing offense could take a much more promising shape as the team gets healthier throughout the year.

Cincinnati Bengals: 5.5 wins – Under

What about the Bengals is supposed to make me think they’re different than the team they were last year? This defense is expensive but middling at best and the big concern of the offensive line is marginally improved from last year at best. Throw in the fact that Joe Burrow is coming back from the knee injury while top-five pick Ja’Marr Chase has looked worrisome and it’s hard to find reasons to believe that Cincinnati is going to be able to remotely hang in this division.

Cleveland Browns: 10.5 wins – Over

Call me a Kool-Aid drinker but I’m all-in on the Cleveland Browns in the 2021 NFL season. This defense has been drastically improved and looks ready to potentially dominate while the offense can continue their assent under head coach Kevin Stefanski.

The big question some have about the Browns is Baker Mayfield but I don’t share those concerns. He was phenomenal at the end of last season and now has the full offseason of development in this offense with Odell Beckham Jr. back too. Not only do they hit the over, they win the AFC North.

Pittsburgh Steelers: 8.5 wins – Under

This win total feels like bait because, famously, Mike Tomlin has not gone under .500 since becoming the head coach of the Steelers. But all trends must end and this is one of those cases for Pittsburgh.

Not only do I not have faith in Ben Roethlisberger at this stage of his career but the offensive line is abysmal. Furthermore, the defense isn’t going to be as good as it was a year ago with their massive losses in free agency. This team showed it played over its head early in 2020 and they’re going to drop off wholly in 2021.
