56 Bold NFL predictions for 2021 season
4. Green Bay Packers make it to Super Bowl 56
Because of the tumultuous offseason in Green Bay with Aaron Rodgers, it does feel like the Packers aren’t inspiring much confidence. But the quarterback is seemingly bought into this season at minimum and the roster is ostensibly better outside of the offensive line than it was last year.
With a chip on his shoulder, Rodgers is going to light a fire in Green Bay and make one final run at a Super Bowl. And he’ll get there, knocking off nemesis Tom Brady to win the NFC.
3. Pittsburgh Steelers finish 8-9 or worse
Since taking over as head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2007 season, Mike Tomlin has an impressive record, not just in winning one Super Bowl but also that his team has never finished below .500. Sure, they’ve gone 8-8 on three occasions but never dipped below that threshold.
Now that a 17-game season makes 8-8 impossible, that streak is going to end. The Steelers defense is going to take a massive step back due to the shaky secondary and the offense will sputter due to the offensive line. In the end, this team won’t win more than eight games, especially in the tough AFC North.
2. Los Angeles Rams earn best regular-season record
As mentioned when talking about Matthew Stafford, he’s going to have a monstrous year for the Rams. That will lead to the team looking borderline unstoppable for the 2021 NFL season, the regular season in particular. Even playing in the extremely tough NFC West, this star-laden roster will be impossible to stop as they win 14 games and finish with the best record in the league.
1. The Cleveland Browns win the Super Bowl
Yes, it’s happening. After breaking years of bad history with a playoff appearance and a win over the rival Steelers in the postseason, the Browns are going to make the biggest leap, the leap to champions.
I’m a believer in Baker Mayfield, in the offensive line, in the weapons, in Kevin Stefanski and in the rebuilt defense that is the best it’s been in a long, long time. This team has all the pieces and, as Mayfield finally takes the next step, that will put the Browns over the hump and earn them the Lombardi Trophy.
