It can’t be a good omen for the Washington Football Team that their home stadium, FedEx Field, has a sewage pipe leaking into the stands in Week 1.

Things did not go to plan for the Washington Football Team opening their 2021 season at FedEx Field. Despite real hype around the team potentially returning to the playoffs, they’ve struggled offensively to keep up with the Los Angeles Chargers. To make matters worse, Ryan Fitzpatrick had to leave the game with a hip injury.

Luckily, Taylor Heinicke, who started in the playoffs for Washington last year, came in and played well, especially to start the second half. However, the hits kept coming for fans of the Football Team. Specifically, for fans sitting in one section of FedEx Field.

In one area on what appears to be the second level, there was liquid leaking down from an awning. And as an astute fan noted, it appears that it was a leaking sewage pipe falling into the seats which, thankfully, had been vacated.

Even if the Washington Football Team took a lead early in the second half, that can’t be a good omen for this group moving forward, right? It’s one thing to have bad weather or bad luck — but literal sewage leaking into the stands? That’s not something you see every day (or week, or year), nor do you want to.

Again, it’s positive for the franchise that, even with their QB1 taking a hit and leaving the game, they’re still competitive with a Chargers team many have making the playoffs out of the AFC. With that said, their biggest order of business might not be who’s under center but, rather, getting a plumber out to the stadium ASAP.
