The New York Giants visit the Washington Football Team on Thursday Night Football for NFL Week 2 at FedEx Field.

The New York Giants and Washington Football Team both opened up the season with disappointing losses but it was for vastly different reasons. For the former, they looked entirely outmatched by Denver and never stood a chance. The latter, however, went toe-to-toe with the Chargers but lost their starting quarterback, Ryan Fitzpatrick, to injury and that showed. Now, these two teams face off on Thursday Night Football in NFL Week 2.

Fitzpatrick suffered a serious hip injury for Washington, which means the club will start Taylor Heinicke, he of NFC Wild Card Game fame, in primetime on Thursday. The Football Team’s calling card, however, remains a defense that can be dominant led by Chase Young, Da’Ron Payne and much more.

As for the Giants, it was tough to watch every aspect of the team in the season-opener. Daniel Jones keeps fumbling, Saquon Barkley was stopped almost entirely in his return to the field and the defense took a big step back from last year. Much of that has to change for them to be competitive in this game or at all this season.

So how will Thursday Night Football play out? We have every angle covered for what you need to know for this NFC East matchup.

New York Giants vs. Washington Football Team Odds, Week 2

Point Spread: Washington -3.0
Moneyline: Washington -180, Giants +150
Over/Under: 40.5

On a surface level, it’s absolutely wild to think that Washington just lost their starting quarterback and lost in Week 1 is now a three-point favorite, even at home. That speaks to how hapless the Giants looked overall and, even crazier, I don’t even disagree with the oddsmakers on this. In fact, my lean is to take the Football Team against the spread.

The point total feels exactly right as it’s hard to imagine Daniel Jones and the offense finding a rhythm against this defense and, assuming New York tightens up on that side of the ball, the same is true for Taylor Heinicke and the Football Team offense. My lean is to the under here.

New York Giants vs. Washington Football Team Prediction, Week 2

Mercy on the souls of anyone who has to be fully invested in this game. My best bet for the game is that it’s going to be hard to watch because these are two teams who are not that good, especially with the Football Team not having Fitzpatrick at the helm of the offense.

When you get down to it, though, there are few matchups where I don’t see Washington having the advantage. Their stout defensive front should be able to dominant a porous Giants offensive line and potentially force Jones into turnovers while also bottling up Saquon Barkley. On top of that, even with Heinicke, the presence of Antonio Gibson should attack the linebackers.

It’s not going to be a blowout by any metric but the Football Team should enter this game with the expectation that they are still the better team. I see that playing out on the field as well. Final Score: Giants 13, Washington 17
