The New York Giants are already struggling with their offensive line, and the injury to center Nick Gates makes matters only worse.

Anyone who follows the New York Giants understands the offensive line is a major hole, but the injury suffered by center Nick Gates is downright brutal.

Late in the first quarter with a 7-0 lead, Gates had his leg caught underneath a Washington defender on a failed pass attempt, and what happens will certainly leave you with an empty feeling inside.

Gates was carted off the field and, judging from the optics, it looks like his season is done, leaving yet another issue for the Giants offensive line, and more importantly, a glaring hole in a coveted position.

Gates, a team captain, was one of the more prominent members on the Giants offensive line and his injury leaves New York searching for a viable replacement. Moreover, given the position that Gates plays, the options are slim.

Nick Gates’ injury only sets the Giants back further and heightens their offensive line issues.

The Giants are coming off a loss to the Broncos in Week 1 and while taking an early lead on Washington is promising, the loss of a team captain at a valuable position hurts, but the team must continue forward.

Furthermore, as stated before, the Giants’ offensive line has been a significant weakness for the team despite the investment attempts throughout the tenure of general manager Dave Gettleman. With an injury like this, the doubts and the questions will certainly rise to a greater extent.
