Stud: Greg Zuerlein

Man, did he bail them out or what?

The Dallas Cowboys really shouldn’t have won this game. They bogged down often when they got into Los Angeles territory and were bailed out time and again by the Chargers’ untimely penalties. Then at the end of the game, they might have had the worst-ever game-winning drive.

Dallas lackadaisically walked down the field and once they were in range for Greg Zuerlein to kick an incredibly long field goal, they just sat on the ball.

Of course, with the issues Zuerlein had last week there wasn’t a Dallas fan watching that exhaled. That was until after “Greg the Leg” cooly knocked in a 56-yard field goal for the win. He clearly wasn’t bothered by his previous poor outing or the situation he was facing. That’s the definition of a stud.

Dud: Mike McCarthy

As mentioned already, Dallas’ final drive was simply ugly. They did cover 49 yards and there were some solid calls from Kellen Moore to take advantage of what was there. But they simply let the clock wind down too much and seemed content to kick the ball at the edge of Greg Zuerlein’s range.

The good news is, Zuerlein nailed the attempt but that doesn’t mean Mike McCarthy shouldn’t be criticized for being so cavalier on that drive.

He’s had some questionable clock-management decisions in his short tenure in Dallas and despite the win, this one was one of his worst.
