Ranking the 30 best wild card teams in NFL history: 4. 2010 Green Bay Packers

From one heartbreaking Packers moment to a moment of triumph. The 2010 Green Bay Packers were coming off a rough stretch that led to the Packers replacing Brett Favre with Aaron Rodgers. He was in his third season as the starter when things finally clicked. The Packers might not have won the NFC North, but they were ready for a run either way.

They started the playoffs in Philadelphia. The Eagles have been known to provide an upset or two when it comes to the NFC side of things, but the Packers were diligent. Michael Vick was trying to give the Eagles a huge victory, by Tramon Williams intercepted the ball for Green Bay with just 36 left in the game. If the pass was caught, it would have given the Eagles the lead. Instead, Rodgers knelt on the ball and they were moving on.

In the Divisional round, it was an offensive explosion. They broke the franchise’s postseason points record with 49 against Matt Ryan and the Falcons.

This led to a matchup with their division rivals the Chicago Bears. There is something about Bears-Packers in the freezing cold that makes it feel like Christmas. This was an undermanned Bears team who was playing Caleb Hanie at quarterback. B.J. Raji ended up bringing back an interception for a touchdown (everyone loves a big man touchdown).

In the Super Bowl, Rodgers made his legacy known. He threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception against the Steelers. The Packers needed him to be perfect because the Steelers were able to score 25 points against this very good Packers defense. The Packers survived despite losing Donald Driver and Charles Woodson in the middle of the game.
