Ranking the 30 best wild card teams in NFL history: 25. 2019 Tennessee Titans

The team that ends the Tom Brady regime in New England deserves a lot of love, and honestly, this might be a little underrated for how good this team was in the playoffs. Derrick Henry was already a really good running back before this playoff run, but he became a legend in the 2019-20 season. The Patriots went into the game huge favorites based on their past as one of the dominant teams in the NFL, but Derrick Henry was on another level on this day.

He ran for 134 yards and a touchdown against a Bill Belichick defense. Tom Brady threw for 209 yards and an interception in what would be the last time he played in a Patriots uniform. The Titans did that to him. They ended his tenure in New England with a terrible taste in everyone’s mouth (except for like most people since the Patriots are so hateable).

The Titans went on to go to Baltimore to play the Ravens. NFL MVP Lamar Jackson was taking his innovative offense to a Titans team that could have been intimidated by the task, but they immediately destroyed everything that was good about the Ravens offense. They held Jackson and the Ravens to 12 points, and they put a target on Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.

Henry didn’t have a great day against the Chiefs, but the offense still put up 24 points. The Chiefs scored two fourth-quarter touchdowns to win the game, but the Titans proved themselves as a legitimate threat in the AFC.
