It looked for a while as if the Baltimore Ravens were going to be run out of the building. The Kansas City Chiefs were moving the ball at will and they even forced two picks off Lamar Jackson — both by Tyrann Mathieu who started the night off with a 34-yard pick-six.

Baltimore didn’t let the slow start bother them as they stuck to their game plan which was to keep running it at the Chiefs defense. It worked too as Lamar Jackson had 107 yards rushing and two fourth-quarter touchdowns. Overall, the entire Ravens offense ran for 251 yards on the ground and they silenced the talk that Baltimore is in trouble due to losses on their offensive line and in the backfield.

Having said all that, the real MVP in this win had to be Odafe Oweh, the rookie pass-rusher for the Ravens. Oweh came after Patrick Mahomes and forced a bad pass which was picked off by Tavon Young at one point, then stopped the Chiefs offense on their final drive.

Following a Jackson touchdown to put Baltimore up 36-35, the Chiefs moved to the Ravens 35-yard line and that’s where Oweh stripped the ball out of Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s arm and recovered the fumble as well. The Ravens then ran out the clock, as John Harbaugh made the gutsy call to go for it on fourth-and-1 from their own 45.

Had they not made the conversion, Kansas City would have needed one pass to get into range for the win. But that didn’t happen as the Ravens showed why teams with the most guts get the most glory.
