Social media was alive with the jokes on Thursday Night Football as the NFL once again was force-feeding their fans some good old-fashioned NFC East rivalry games. The problem is, the NFC East is bad. I mean, really bad.

Sure, the Dallas Cowboys came close to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Philadelphia Eagles beat up on the Atlanta Falcons, but coming close to a good team and beating one that’s in a free fall pretty much epitomizes the best of the East.

Then there’s the New York Giants, who were on the road in Week 2 to play the Washington Football Team. They somehow nearly stole a win that would have knocked their rival team down to 0-2, but instead, they had several big blunders, including an offsides penalty that allowed Washington to re-kick their missed game-winning field goal, which forced them to enter Week 3 without a win.

This continues one of the worst streaks ever as the New York Giants entered this season without spending even one week boasting a record over .500 since 2016 — according to Warren Sharp. And now, that continues as they’re the only team in the NFL to have this terrible distinction.

Looking back over this last game, there’s an argument to be made that Dexter Lawrence was not actually offsides, but there were a ton of chances before this that they goofed up like the open touchdown to Darius Slayton that went off his fingertips. To summarize, this team is broken. Like really broken.
