Green Bay Packers Week 2 Stud: Davante Adams, WR

In correlation with Rodgers bouncing back from his Week 1, we got our first monster Davante Adams game of the season and it was a beautiful sight. Though Jones largely made sure the star wide receiver didn’t get into the end zone, Adams led the way by a mile in every other category with a team-high eight receptions, nine targets and 121 yards.

Adams was absolutely cooking the Lions secondary for basically the entire game, both on his routes and after the catch. Moreover, his 50-yard connection with Rodgers on third-and-12 early in the second half was the big turning point for the Packers running away with this one. Suffice it to say, Adams is still here and still one of the best wide receivers in the game.

Green Bay Packers Week 2 Dud: Randall Cobb, WR

This is more of a macro dud for the Packers, but what was the point of bringing Randall Cobb back? I get that it’s what Aaron Rodgers wanted but, at the same time, he’s clearly not a meaningful piece of this offense.

Cobb ran just six routes on the night and, even though he finished with three receptions for 26 yards, catching all of his targets. Still, he was behind Adams, Jones and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in targets while being tied with Robert Tonyan.

For a player that’s making well north of $8 million this season that Green Bay traded for, this just feels like a waste of time for everyone involved. But hey, if the quarterback is happy Cobb is there, maybe that’s all that matters.
