20 Bold predictions for NFL Week 3: CeeDee Lamb goes wild, Nick Chubb runs free
6. Lamar Jackson hits 500 combined passing and rushing yards
Despite the Ravens’ 1-1 record, it looks as if quarterback Lamar Jackson is back in MVP form, or at least close to it. He’s the third-leading rusher in the NFL through two weeks and has also seemingly improved as a passer, aside from his two bad interceptions early against the Chiefs. And even with those picks, he rebounded for a strong overall performance to lead his team back to a win.
Now Baltimore gets to face the Lions, albeit on the road, and this is a terrible matchup for Detroit. For as hard as the Lions are fighting on both sides of the ball, they don’t have the speed to keep up with Jackson or the Ravens weapons, Marquise Brown in particular. Jackson is going to take advantage of that and will run and throw all over the Lions, hitting 500 total yards in a rout.
5. Javonte Williams explodes for 150-yard breakout game
This is the week Broncos rookie running back Javonte Williams solidifies himself as the RB1 in Denver. Through two weeks, Melvin Gordon III is the team’s leading rusher with 132 yards on 24 carries. Yet, if you take away his 70-yard touchdown late in Week 1 that was all but meaningless, that’s 23 carries for 62 yards, which is far less impressive.
Williams, on the other hand, has been solid with 27 carries for 109 yards. Now that a good Broncos team is up against the Jets, they’re going to blow out New York, meaning they’ll need to run the clock out. That will feature a heavy dose of the rookie and he’ll gash a bad defense behind the good Broncos line to hit 150 yards and assert himself as the best back on the roster.
