19. Tennessee Titans: Jalen Wydermyer, TE, Texas A&M

The start to the season for the Tennessee Titans was up and down, to say the least. They got a win in Week 2 but that was after an ugly Week 1 outing where the Arizona Cardinals completely embarrassed them. After being knocked off 38-13, they went out and beat the Seattle Seahawks by a score of 33-30, needing overtime to pull out the W. The good news is, they now have a couple of games coming up that should be winnable – plus they play in the AFC South, so they should still be the favorites to win the division unless one of the other teams surprises us.

Looking ahead to the 2022 NFL Draft, there are a few spots they could look to improve but one of the biggest holes is at tight end. Tennessee lost Jonnu Smith in the offseason after he signed with the New England Patriots. For that reason, they go after a new player at the position by taking Jalen Wydermyer from Texas A&M.

Wydermeyer is a large target at 6-foot-5 and 255-pounds and has proven to be a solid weapon in the red zone for the Aggies. He had 12 touchdowns in his first two seasons and for his career is sitting at 90 receptions for 1,094 yards and 12 scores. What really makes him stand out for the Titans, however, is the way he performs as a blocker.

Like most young tight ends, there will be room to grow, but Wydermeyer is not simply a receiving tight end. He can get after it when blocking and has no problem getting physical and mixing it up with the defenders. Considering this offense runs through Derrick Henry on the ground, that’s going to be this young man’s way into the hearts of the Tennessee coaching staff.
