2022 NFL Mock Draft: Jets land superstar EDGE, Eagles triple-dip on defense
By Randy Gurzi
24. Las Vegas Raiders: Nakobe Dean, LB, Georgia
The Las Vegas Raiders are off to a solid start this season and while it’s still early, they’ve been getting some solid return on their free agency investments — which includes defensive end Yannick Ngakoue.
While his play, coupled with that of Max Crosby, should be enough to keep them strong on the edge, the Raiders could use some linebacker help which is why we snatch up Nakobe Dean from Georgia at this spot.
Dean is one of the top linebackers in this class and he stands out due to his speed and ability to play in coverage, which is what Lorenz Leinweber of Fan Nation praises him for.
"“In pursuit, Dean uses his above-average speed to flow to the ball if he manages to stay clean. He takes blocks on low and shows play strength to prevent getting sealed. When tasked with man coverage responsibilities, he stays square and patient. Dean can even turn and run with slots. He plays urgently with strong effort.” — Leinweber, Fan Nation"
Las Vegas really needs to stay strong throughout the season. They have had solid starts before but they haven’t had a winning season since 2016.
Continuing to build up their defense will only help them as they try and become consistent winners again in the NFL.
