Dallas Cowboys Bold Prediction No. 4: Tony Pollard gets 150 yards from scrimmage
It took until his third season in the NFL for the staff to realize that they should be getting Tony Pollard the ball more. Again, we go back to them not always making the best decisions, as they have constantly run Ezekiel Elliott into the ground while keeping Pollard sidelined until they had to take Zeke off the field from overuse.
That often led to Elliott being bashed for looking old and slow when really, he was just beaten and bruised by his own staff. Now in 2021, they’ve finally started to split time and that’s going to pay off late in the season when Elliott still has some pep in his legs. It’s also not hurting the offense at all. In fact, it has really helped it.
After two weeks, Pollard leads the team in rushing with 123 yards on 16 carries while averaging a healthy 7.7 yards per attempt. He’s also caught seven passes on seven targets for another 60 yards. Simply put, Pollard looks like the weapon we all saw at Memphis.
In Week 3, look for offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to continue to play both players and get the ball to the hot hand. That will lead to Pollard once again running crazy and in this prediction, he helps the Cowboys offense by racking up 150 yards from scrimmage.
