FanDuel NFL Week 3 picks and lineup advice: Tight End

As always, you are going to want to decide whether or not you can afford to spend up at tight end or be forced to punt the position. While I could never fault you for paying up for Travis Kelce ($8,500) or Darren Waller ($7,400), I do think there are a few other viable cheap options this week. T.J. Hockenson ($6,300) has been an absolute beast this year and should continue to see heavy volume in the passing game with Detroit almost always playing from behind.

Additionally, I like Mark Andrews ($6,000) to have his first solid game of the year against a Detroit defense that has given up 76 points through two games. If you want to get even cheaper, Jared Cook ($5,300) has seen consistent volume and multiple red-zone targets, so you could certainly do worse at the tight end position.

FanDuel NFL Week 3 picks and lineup advice: D/ST

Defense is tough this week, as there are usually plenty of cheaper options that I feel comfortable throwing into my lineup that are not there this week. The Bengals ($3,400) could be a sneaky play in a game that projects to be low scoring. Regardless of whether or not the Steeler’s quarterback is an injured Ben Roethlisberger or Mason Rudolph, there should be plenty of chances for the Bengals to break through that weak offensive line.

However, the Raiders ($4,000) are the best value of the week in what I could see being the lowest scoring game on the slate. Their defense has held the Steelers and Ravens in check and now get to face a below-average offense led by Jacoby Brissett.

If you have the funds, the Cardinals ($4,600) and Broncos ($5,000) are the strongest plays on the slate, though defense should always be dictated your salary remaining after choosing your other positions.

FanDuel NFL Week 3 Lineup

  • QB Justin Fields – $6,500
  • RB Jonathan Taylor – $7,000
  • RB Austin Ekeler – $7,000
  • WR Tyreek Hill – $8,700
  • WR D.K Metcalf – $7,200
  • WR Mike Williams – $6,000
  • TE Mark Andrews  – $6,000
  • FLEX Justin Jefferson – $7,400
  • DEF Las Vegas Raiders – $4,000

While this lineup may appear to be a bit all over the place, there is some method to my madness. While you normally want to stack your quarterback with one of their receiving options, that is not something I want to do in the case of Justin Fields. That is because I do not necessarily believe in the Bears offense this week, but more Fields’ ability to put up fantasy points.

Additionally, I have multiple pieces from games I project to be high-scoring: the Chiefs versus the Chargers and the Vikings versus the Seahawks. The cheap salary of Justin Fields allows us to get these more expensive options on better offenses and eliminates weak spots elsewhere. However, there are many other ways you can choose to play this week and still come away with profit. Best of luck this week and hopefully we can lock in the third week of profit in a row!
