2021 NFL Power Rankings, Week 4: Rams claim top spot, Steelers and Bears plummet
If you somehow were able to get odds on the Kansas City Chiefs coming out of Week 3 in last place in the AFC West prior to the start of the year, then you’re probably counting your boatloads of cash at this point.
Kansas City dropped their second sight game on Sunday as they fell 30-24 at Arrowhead to the Chargers. And really, the Chiefs have no one to blame but themselves for this loss. Not only did their defense not have any answers for Keenan Allen, Mike Williams and Austin Ekeler in the passing game but there were so many self-inflicted wounds for the defending AFC champs.
Patrick Mahomes was far from perfect in this game as he threw two picks but his teammates also hurt him a bit with Clyde Edwards-Helaire (who played well outside of his turnover) and Tyreek Hill each lost a fumble. Even with how potent this Chiefs offense is, that’s tough to survive, especially against a good team like the Bolts.
Frankly, things have looked a bit sloppy for the Chiefs to start the season. There’s no reason to believe they won’t sort it out because, well, that’s what we’ve come to expect from them. But until that time, we have to dock them heavily in these 2021 NFL Power Rankings.
