You could make the argument that the Jacksonville Jaguars showed more life in Week 3 than they had in the first two weeks of the season, which was a bit of a shock considering they were playing the unbeaten Cardinals. But at the end of the day, they still lost 31-19.
There were some wild moments against Arizona, none crazier than Jamal Agnew taking a missed 68-yard field goal 109 yards for a kick-six score at the end of the first half to give the Jaguars a 13-7 lead.
In fact, Jacksonville was up 19-10 late in the third quarter. As bad teams tend to do, though, they had no answers and made critical mistakes down the stretch to allow 21 unanswered points.
Trevor Lawrence flashed once again but he certainly played like a rookie on a team that’s not doing him any favors, throwing two interceptions (one returned for a touchdown by Byron Murphy) and faltering late in the game when the Jags could’ve pulled off the upset.
I remain extremely dubious that Urban Meyer is cut out for coaching in the NFL and this game didn’t do anything to convince me otherwise. Jacksonville should be thankful the Jets exist so they are no longer at the bottom of the power rankings.
