Davis Mills gained more notoriety for possibly having a Guinness World Record for the longest neck (at least for an NFL player) in Week 3 than the rookie did for his first start at quarterback with the Houston Texans. That pretty much sums up what you need to know about this team.

You could make the argument that the Panthers, a team that kept getting hit with injuries, didn’t play remotely their best game on Thursday Night Football and Carolina still never felt out of control. Mills wasn’t a trainwreck by any stretch but he did nothing to elevate an offense that simply lacks a lot of talent right now.

On that note, you have to feel bad for wide receiver Brandin Cooks at this point. He’s out on an island with this team and has been playing exceptionally well, accounting for 112 of the team’s 168 receiving yards in Week 3. But he has no help and it’s tough to watch a player of his talent suffer like that.

It’s going to be a long road ahead back to success for the Texans and, unfortunately, that road likely extends past the 2021 season.
