50. . . Previous: 30th. Detroit Lions. 28. team

When the Detroit Lions kicked a go-ahead field goal with just over one minute left in regulation and then forced the Ravens into a fourth-and-19 situation, they had to think that their first win was in the books. They probably still felt that way when Justin Tucker lined up for a 66-yard field goal.

But such is life for a Lions fan. Tucker’s NFL record try hit the cross bar and bounced into the net for the three points Baltimore needed to win. Now, Detroit drops to 0-3 on the season. There have been definite signs for optimism though.

While D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams both averaged under 4.0 yards per carry, they are versatile weapons who have been effective. Moreover, Jared Goff has played well to this point and the defense, though lacking in speed, depth and talent, plays their hearts out for 60 minutes.

This won’t be a year drenched in success for the Lions. However, head coach Dan Campbell has his team playing with belief and they aren’t going to be an easy win for any of the other 31 teams in the league this year.
