Dallas Cowboys Week 3 Studs: Rookies Micah Parsons and Osa Odighizuwa

Micah Parsons continues to impress. With the Cowboys still short on the defensive line, Parsons was playing on the edge and again had a huge impact. One was when he blew up a second-and-short stuffing Jalen Hurts for a loss. That led to a failed third-down pass from the Eagles and a punt.

Another rookie who stood out was Osa Odighizuwa who came up big just before the end of the first half. Philly just moved it 19 yards on a pass to DeVonta Smith and they had the ball at the 46. Then, Odighizuwa shoved them back 11 yards with his first career sack, and it was an impressive one.

He blew through the defensive line as if he was running past a traffic cone and delivered a strong hit on Jalen Hurts. That led to the Cowboys forcing a punt, rather than allowing the Eagles to score late in the half right before getting the ball to start the third.

The two then shared a sack when Jalen Hurts dropped back on a fourth-down conversion in the fourth quarter. Despite a hold, which was declined, Parsons and Odighizuwa took Hurts down together to get the ball back for their offense.

Dallas Cowboys Week 3 Dud: Connor Williams, Guard

Connor Williams struggled at times on Monday as he was hit with two holding penalties on the Cowboys’ first drive of the second quarter. The first forced them into a first-and-20 which they overcame. The second made it a first-and-goal from the 19-yard line — which they again somehow overcame.

Dallas still put up points on that drive but they had to go 20 extra yards thanks to the mistakes from Williams. He was called for another penalty later in the game and while that one didn’t hurt as much, it continued to show that he was struggling with the Eagles’ interior defenders.
