The Chicago Bears hit a brick wall in Week 3 when the Cleveland Browns held them to just six points. They were on the wrong side of a lopsided game where they averaged 1.1 yards per play and had a total of 47 yards on the day. That led to some worries that they could be free-falling but they got themselves a confidence booster in Week 4 — a game against the Detroit Lions.

Detroit is one of the remaining teams without a win and while they lost to Baltimore the prior week due to a huge 66-yard kick as time expired, they weren’t able to slow down the Bears. Instead, they were run out of the stadium as Chicago had 188 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

David Montgomery had a huge day with 106 of those yards and two touchdowns. Through the air, Justin Fields was much better than the prior week, gaining 209 yards on 11-of-17 passing. Darnell Mooney led the way with 125 yards on five receptions and Allen Robinson pitched in 63 yards on three catches.

Chicago’s defense also got after Jared Goff all day with four sacks as Khalil Mack, Robert Quinn, Roquan Smith, and Trevis Gipson all got in on the fun. Now at 2-2, the Bears are still treading water — which kind of summarizes their tenure under Matt Nagy.
