Jamien Sherwood, of the New York Jets, celebrates their overtime victory against the Tennessee Titans. Sunday, October 3, 2021 /

30. . . Previous: 32nd. New York Jets. 29. team

In what was arguably the biggest shock of the weekend, the New York Jets secured their first win of the season — and their first under rookie head coach Robert Saleh — in an overtime contest against the Tennessee Titans. Saleh had said earlier in the week that things would start to click for Zach Wilson and when they did, we would all see why he was taken second overall.

This Sunday, he might not have lit the world on fire, but he did show signs of what Saleh was talking about. Wilson was 21-of-34 with 297 yards and two touchdowns against one pick. His first touchdown was a three-yarder to Jamison Crowder in the fourth quarter to tie things up at 17.

His second was the one that put them on top 24-17 when he hit Corey Davis from 53-yards out. Tennessee ended up scoring with 16 seconds left to send it to overtime but Wilson and the Jets continued to fight. They scored on their first overtime possession, going 71 yards on 13 plays before Matt Ammendola came in and nailed a 22-yard field goal.

Their defense then held the Titans out of the end zone and lucked out as Randy Bullock missed a 49-yard field goal which gave Gang Green the win.
