Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Rounds 2-3

Round 2, Pick 41: Sean Rhyan, OL, UCLA

Sean Rhyan has been a fantastic left tackle for UCLA this season and at times previously, so we know he can hold up there at the college level. He’s incredibly smart and cerebral, which is good as he’s not a dominant physical presence on the edge and lacks elite athleticism for his size.

As Pittsburgh tires to shore up an abysmal offensive line, though, Rhyan is intriguing. Some project him better as a guard with his limited athleticism but in trying to find the best combination up front, the Steelers could try him out at multiple spots and see where the talented player would simply work best.

Round 3, Pick 73: Ikem Ekwonu, OL, NC State

More versatility on the offensive line would be welcomed for Pittsburgh as they look to shore up the trenches in front of Corral and Najee Harris. Ikem Ekwonu is an absolute bully with overwhelming power in his 6-foot-4, 320-pound frame. He has great length and moves pretty well for a player his size as well. He’s not perfect as his timing and footwork can get sloppy but he could be a tackle with guard potential as well that could really benefit the Steelers as a value third-round selection.

Round 3, Pick 97: Isaac Taylor-Stuart, CB, USC

Frankly, there aren’t many cornerbacks in the 2022 NFL Draft class who have the tools of Isaac Taylor-Stuart. At 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, his athleticism jumps off the tape as he’s clearly a gifted player who looks born to play the position.

The problem is that he often relies too much on that and needs to become a more sound technical player with his feet and hands. That said, Pittsburgh is thin at cornerback for the future and they could get tremendous upside with the USC product as a third-round comp pick.
