Pittsburgh Steelers replace Ben Roethlisberger, start future in 2022 NFL Mock Draft
Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 NFL Mock Draft: Rounds 5-7
Round 5, Pick 177: Jameson Williams, WR, Alabama
The Steelers have a long track record of finding valuable wide receivers later in the draft and Jameson Williams could be the next of them. An Ohio State transfer, he has lightning speed and, frankly, could shoot up draft boards after the combine. However, with improved route-running and his big-play potential, he could be a more than suitable WR3 when JuJu Smith-Schuster likely leaves.
Round 6, Pick 188: Tyreke Smith, DL, Ohio State
Tyreke Smith has played a ton for Ohio State and, while the Buckeyes defense has been underwhelming in 2021, he’s proven he can be an effective player in rushing the passer. Not overly explosive or bendy, he shows nice technique and might be a possible move piece in the front seven for a team like Pittsburgh as they can stand him up or put his hand down.
Round 7, Pick 227: Jeremiah Moon, EDGE, Florida
Moon is very much a ball of clay that needs work but he’s intriguing in that at 6-foot-6, 250 pounds. He has tremendous length and room to put on muscle, which could allow him to reach his untouched potential. The Steelers showed a need for edge depth when T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith were out, especially with Melvin Ingram only on a one-year deal.
Round 7, Pick 245: Ben Petrula, IOL, Boston College
A team such as the Steelers can never have too many bodies on the offensive line and Petrula could represent great value for that. The Boston College standout is a big man at 325 pounds and, while not great with his feet, he’s powerful and has nice traits. With some NFL coaching to clean up technique, he could be usable depth in Pittsburgh.
