FanDuel NFL Week 5 picks and lineup advice: Running Back

This is the week where everyone is going to want to lock Derrick Henry ($10,400) into their lineups, but I actually am slightly wary of him this week at that expensive salary. While I would never recommend fully fading Henry due to his potential to put up a slate-breaking week and leave you in the dust, I do not view him as a lock in every lineup.

Dalvin Cook ($9,000) on the other hand is a much better value at his price point against a Lions defense that has been unable to stop many worse running backs. Alvin Kamara ($8,600) has been the subject of plenty of criticism this year, though not at any fault of his own. He is yet to find the end zone on the ground and saw zero targets last week. After losing to the Giants with this strategy, I expect him to see volume through the air and on the ground against a Washington defense that has been one of the worst in the league through four weeks.

D’Andre Swift ($6,900) is a running back that is way too cheap for his potential and should see plenty of utilization in a game that projects them to be playing from behind. Damien Harris ($6,500) has 10 total rushing yards over the past two weeks but I think he is a fantastic play in tournaments this week. He has the potential to see 20+ rushing attempts against a terrible Texans defense and has actually seen a few targets in the passing game without James White in the lineup.

Additionally, Leonard Fournette ($6,400) has a fantastic matchup against the Dolphins and while I do not necessarily believe in the player, he has the chance to see 20+ touches against an awful rush defense.

Damien Williams ($5,800) and Samaje Perine ($5,600) are going to be the popular plays this week with David Montgomery and Joe Mixon out. Of the two, I like Williams much more as a player that has flashed his potential on his current team and should be heavily involved in the passing game. The Bears offense goes through the run while the Bengals would much rather have the ball in Burrow’s hands than Perine’s.
