Quarterly MVP odds: +2000 Lamar Jackson

The whole Lamar Jackson can’t throw thing might be getting a bit old but it’s the truth. Let’s face it, the NFL today has made it incredibly easy for offensive players to thrive. Guys that you’ve never heard of are routinely chucking it down the field and ending games with ridiculous numbers in terms of accuracy. Jackson, however, simply isn’t getting it done in that department.

The run-first QB ranks just 28th in the entire league in accuracy at a 60.5% completion clip. He’s also just 24th in passer rating, not exactly surprising.

To Jackson’s credit, he’s still just as effective at running the ball as some of the game’s best running backs. Even with ball carriers included, Jackson has rushed for the ninth most yards with 279. He’s ahead of established guys such as Kareem Hunt and Melvin Gordon.

The Baltimore Ravens have only picked up one loss this season and Jackson even found a way to get the monkey off his back when his Ravens beat Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs for the first time in Jackson’s career.

There’s plenty to love about Lamar Jackson but until he gets better at throwing the ball, we don’t see him winning another MVP anytime soon.
