Quarterly MVP odds: +7500 Sam Darnold

Sam Darnold deserves an apology from just about everyone.

After spending the first three years of his career with the New York Jets, Darnold was essentially viewed as a colossal bust. The Jets lost game, after game, after game with Darnold under center.

Once the Carolina Panthers decided to take a chance on him and pull the trigger on a trade, their fanbase was a bit incoherent to the entire event. Darnold never showed next-level talent while with the Jets, so why would things be any different in a new environment? Well, those who believed that can now eat their words.

Darnold is balling out with the Carolina Panthers. Not only are they currently 3-1 on the season, but Darnold is doing much more than simply checking the ball down. Darnold ranks top ten in both passing yards with 1,189 and yards per attempt with 8.1.

A Super Bowl run is highly unlikely for the Panthers. Even a trip to the playoffs seems a bit farfetched but considering how good the Panthers have looked with him under center, Darnold’s MVP odds could continue to rise.
