Quarterly MVP odds: +650 Patrick Mahomes
Before a single pass was thrown this season, quarterback Patrick Mahomes was viewed as the favorite to win his second regular season MVP award. It made a ton of sense at the time.
Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs were coming off an embarrassing Super Bowl loss at the hands of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the year prior, they won it all. Getting a beatdown in front of a national audience like that was likely to motivate Mahomes to no end.
So far, he’s looked like his normal dominant self. Mahomes ranks in the top five in both passing yards and completion percentage and leads the league in passing touchdowns with 14. The problem for the Chiefs is that they already have two surprising losses at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers and the Baltimore Ravens.
Currently, Mahomes is still tied for the second most favorable odds to win the MVP award. And while two losses aren’t going to take him out of the mix, for now, if the voting ended today, he wouldn’t come close to winning it.
