The 33rd greatest quarterback-wide receiver duo in NFL history: Matt Ryan & Julio Jones

If the Atlanta Falcons would’ve held on to their gargantuan lead of 25 points against the New England Patriots during the 2016 Super Bowl, both Julio Jones and Matt Ryan would’ve been bumped up a few more pegs on our list.

Regardless of their shortcomings, few quarterback/wide receiver duos could compare.

For a decade, Jones was easily considered as the best wide receiver in the game. It truly wasn’t difficult to see why. With six straight seasons of at least 1,394 receiving yards, no cornerback could contend with him. Knowing that Jones was a matchup nightmare, Ryan would throw him the ball early and often.

In seven of their ten years together, Jones was selected as a Pro Bowler. To be fair, if injuries weren’t a consistent issue for the all-world receiver, he would’ve gone ten for ten.

Ryan had plenty of great seasons of his own. In each of those ten campaigns, he threw for over 4,000 yards. Although he typically gets a ton of flack for coming up short with the game on the line, Ryan could end up in the top five all-time in yards per game and touchdowns by the time he hangs up cleats.

Ryan and Jones may have left a few wins on the table but by and large, they were one helluva of a tag team.
