The 24th greatest quarterback-wide receiver duo in NFL history: Joe Namath & Don Maynard

How else can we put this? Joe Namath was by and large overrated. He threw just 173 touchdowns to a ridiculous 220 interceptions. However, it was his memorable promise of winning the 1968 Super Bowl, that allowed him to become a legend.

Right by his side every step of the was his best wide receiver, Don Maynard. During the 1960s and 70s, players didn’t always put up gaudy numbers but that didn’t apply to Maynard. He recorded numerous seasons of over a thousand yards. In 1967, Maynard had one of the best seasons in wide receiver history. On the year, he led the entire league with 1,434 receiving yards and 102.4 yards per game.

With countless Pro Bowls under their belt and of course, that unforgettable Super Bowl in 1968, they should be considered the best wide receiver quarterback duo in Jets history.
