Dallas Cowboys bold prediction No. 3: Trevon Diggs gets another pick-six

This season, the Dallas Cowboys defense has been beyond impressive. After a historically bad season in 2020, they moved on from defensive coordinator Mike Nolan after just one season and hired Dan Quinn. Considering Quinn’s meltdown at the end of his Atlanta tenure, some were worried about how he would do returning to a coordinator job.

Through five weeks, this defense resembles the one he had in Seattle much more closely than what we saw in Atlanta. Players such as Randy Gregory are pressuring the quarterback at a high rate and linebackers Micah Parsons and Keanu Neal are all over the field. But the biggest star has been second-year cornerback Trevon Diggs.

A second-round pick from Alabama last season, Diggs has recorded six interceptions in five games and has one pick-six. What’s most impressive is that he’s stayed consistent, getting at least one interception in each game, rather than just compiling stats on one good day.

It seems crazy to say he’s going to keep this streak up, but then again, it felt crazy saying he would make it five in a row. That’s why we’re hitching our wagon to the Diggs train as long as possible. This prediction is that he not only gets interception No. 7 but also takes it to the house for six. After that, it will be time to talk about him as a legit NFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate.
