Chicago Bears: 5 players that must step up to beat the Packers

Jaylon Johnson needs to slow down Green Bay’s best receiver

One of the most shocking occurrences this past offseason was the Chicago Bears parting ways with cornerback Kyle Fuller. The team needed to cut salaries to get under the cap. Instead of saving money by cutting tight end Jimmy Graham, a move many expected, they decided to keep the future Hall of Famer.

The team then went to Fuller, who was dues a big payday. They wanted to have Fuller restructure his contract to save the team cap space. Fuller refused, however. Rather than look to another player, they decided to cut Fuller.

That move elevated Jaylon Johnson to CB1. He had an impressive rookie season. While he complemented Fuller well, he wanted to be the top guy who covered the other team’s best receiver.

Well, be careful what you wish for…

Johnson has played well so far in his new role. He finally got his first career interception in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

This week, he’ll have his hands full following Davante Adams. Adams is one of the top receivers in the NFL. He is Rodgers’ favorite target.

This is what Johnson wanted so he has his chance. If he can handle Adams the Bears have a good chance at an upset.
