NFL Power Rankings After Week 6

New England Patriots. 22. team. 47. . . Previous: 18th

Once again, the New England Patriots deserve a lot of credit. They fought hard against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 4 and had a shot to win it in the end. Tampa Bay walked away with the win 19-17, but the Pats looked solid. The same happened this week as they again hosted one of the top NFC teams, the Dallas Cowboys.

Dallas should have won this one easily but New England led for most of the game and the Cowboys needed a touchdown in overtime to steal the win. Having said all that, they’re still 2-4 and while Mac Jones has looked great as a rookie, there’s still a lot to fix with the Pats.

. . Previous: 20th. San Francisco 49ers. 21. team. 42

A 2-0 start had thins looking fantastic for Kyle Shanahan and his San Francisco 49ers. Then, they lost three straight games by one score or less. Green Bay knocked them off 30-28, Seattle won 28-21, and the Cardinals beat them 17-10.

In their loss to Seattle, Jimmy Garoppolo went down and Trey Lance finished with 157 yards and two scores but only completed 50 percent of his passes. He wasn’t much better in Week 5, completing 51.7 percent but scored no touchdowns and had an interception.

San Francisco is on a bye in Week 6 and they can use that to get healthy. Even if they do, they find themselves in a tough hole at 2-3 with Arizona and Los Angeles playing so well in the NFC West.
