2. Denver Broncos

The Denver Broncos traded for Teddy Bridgewater in the 2021 offseason, effectively throwing in the towel on their development of 2019 second-round pick Drew Lock.

The Broncos hired George Paton as their general manager in the 2021 offseason as well, and Paton — like Washington — effectively punted the quarterback position down the road with the acquisition of Bridgewater.

Drew Lock didn’t exactly light it up in training camp or the preseason, and the Broncos’ veteran coaching staff went with the veteran Bridgewater.

After an undefeated September, Bridgewater and the Broncos are 0-3 already in October with a chance to be 0-4 if they can’t beat the Cleveland Browns on Thursday Night Football.

The Broncos are a team without a clear future at the quarterback position.

George Paton has a good relationship with Dolphins GM Chris Grier, the Broncos have dipped into the Alabama pool (Patrick Surtain II, Jerry Jeudy) in the first round of the last two draft classes, and perhaps they would see Tua Tagovailoa as a piece they could hoard with his rookie contract.

Again, that seems like something a wise team would do, so we’ll have to see if that’s the Broncos.

If they don’t buy Bridgewater or Lock as long-term options, why not take a shot on Tua?
