2022 NFL Mock Draft: Giants take Malik Willis, Treylon Burks to Browns
By Randy Gurzi
The New York Giants turn the page at quarterback and the Cleveland Browns land a new wide receiver in this 2022 NFL Mock Draft
It felt like just a couple of days ago when we were patiently counting down the days until the 2021 NFL Season kicked off. Now, we’re in Week 7 of a season that’s rapidly moving along.
For many teams, they’re already turning their attention ahead as they know this season won’t turn out as they hoped. As for us, we are about to look ahead for all 32 teams as we dive into another 2022 NFL Mock Draft.
As we usually do, we use the latest 2021 NFL Power Rankings to determine the order of our mock draft, which has the Detroit Lions kicking things off with the first overall pick.
2022 NFL Mock Draft at Week 7 of the NFL season
1. Detroit Lions: Kayvon Thibodeaux, EDGE, Oregon
If Dan Campbell keeps calling out Jared Goff, the Detroit Lions might be needing to look for a new quarterback. Of course, the front office — and Campbell — will likely review the tape at the end of the season and realize that Goff wasn’t the main problem. That’s not to say he’s for sure the answer but the Lions have a lot to fix outside of their quarterback.
After coming to this realization, Detroit elects to go with the best overall player at No. 1 which is Oregon edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Thibodeaux has only played in three games this season but he didn’t even need that much to remind everyone that he’s the top prospect. He should instantly improve the Lions front-seven which could go a long way toward helping them pull off a few of these close contests they have been in.
2. Houston Texans: Matt Corral, QB, Ole Miss
Davis Mills is in a similar situation as Jared Goff in that he has a lot around him that’s not working. Unfortunately, he also hasn’t really looked like a starter in the NFL. Perhaps with more time, he could be, but for now, it looks as though the Houston Texans are going to need to move on in 2022 — especially with their choice of signal-callers.
Here, we go with Matt Corral who is having a phenomenal season for the Rebels. He enters the weekend with 1,728 yards and has a 14-to-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Houston could use that kind of efficiency in their offense.
