Jalen Hurts led the Philadelphia Eagles right down the field on their opening drive in Week 7 to take a 7-0 lead over the Las Vegas Raiders. That drive covered 67 yards on eight plays and finished with a 13-yard touchdown from Hurts to Kenneth Gainwell.

Then, they gave up 30 points unanswered. Las Vegas made it look easy as the Eagles made everything look difficult. Hurts finished with 236 yards passing and 61 rushing with two touchdowns and no picks, but those numbers are deceiving.

Throughout the day, he struggled to hit open receivers and often had drives stall because of it. Add it all up and the Eagles fell to 2-5 after a 33-22 loss — and it wasn’t nearly as close as that score made it seem.

Head coach Nick Sirianni is still trying to find his way in the NFL and it’s hard to really say if he’s the problem or if it’s their players. Philly does have better receivers this season than they have in recent years after adding DeVonta Smith but Hurts still doesn’t look as though he’s the answer.

In addition to that, their defense has continued to struggle. They’ve twice given up more than 40 points and now this 33-point performance is another one where they just had no answers for their opponent.
