Pick Analysis. Edge. player. Scouting Report. Florida. Brenton Cox Jr. 2. 840

Outside of the 17-14 loss to the Browns, the other scary thing that happened Thursday night was Von Miller’s injury. Miller went down with a leg injury after colliding with Dre’Mont Jones on a pass rush. While Miller going down with an injury is a scary thing in its own right especially with his recent injury history, it’s also a reminder that Von Miller doesn’t have much time left on his contract.

Miller’s contract is due to end after the 2021 season, and once he leaves, Denver is going to need some help.

Bradley Chubb was supposed to be the guy to take over for Miller once he left, but after multiple injuries, lack of development, and mediocre play when he has been healthy, Chubb may not be the star edge that Denver thought they were getting. Luckily for Denver, Jonathon Cooper has played surprisingly well for where he was drafted. Even with Cooper playing well, Denver still needs help at EDGE.

Unlike the QB position, the EDGE position actually has several quality edge rushers to choose from. With the Denver Broncos picking Howell in the 1st round, they will have to somewhat settle for a non-top tier edge rusher. Despite not being a 1st round pick in this mock draft, Brenton Cox is still a quality edge rusher.

Cox originally played at Georgia before being dismissed from the team and winding up at Florida. Despite being kicked off Georgia, Cox has seemingly made a home for himself at Flordia showing why he was a 5-star prospect coming out of high school. Despite lacking some polish, he has a wicked spin move.

Other players considered: Derion Kendrick, Rasheed Walker, Tre’Vius Hodges-Tomlinson
