2022 NFL mock draft: Eagles take Kenny Pickett, Desmond Ridder to Broncos
2022 NFL Mock Draft: Picks 3-4
3. Houston Texans: Matt Corral, QB, Ole Miss
The Houston Texans are obviously a team in a major state of transition.
They’ve slowly deconstructed their roster over the past few years and have made some of the worst trades in the league. This 2022 NFL mock draft scenario doesn’t include a potential Deshaun Watson trade, which could go down before the NFL’s trade deadline but it also has a decent chance of not happening.
Nick Caserio, the GM of the Texans, is not going to give ground on a Watson trade and would probably rather go down with the ship instead of giving Watson up for less than what he would be worth with no off-field issues.
If Kenny Pickett is “Joe Burrow” this season, then Matt Corral is “Zach Wilson”. He’s been having an outstanding season for Ole Miss with 24 total touchdowns in seven games and just one interception after throwing 14 last year.
His dual-threat abilities are exciting, and Corral has shown the ability to make some pretty jaw-dropping throws on the move, off-platform, and from a variety of arm slots.
4. New York Jets: Aidan Hutchinson, EDGE, Michigan
Every time we do a 2022 NFL mock draft scenario, Aidan Hutchinson seems to get higher on the board.
He has 5.0 sacks and 6.5 tackles for loss in seven games this season and looks like he’s going to be a big-time impact off the edge at the next level.
Just like the Detroit Lions, the New York Jets are really in phase one of their rebuilding process. Aidan Hutchinson would be a key piece for them off the edge and someone they could build around.
For Robert Saleh, he would be a “Nick Bosa” type of pick and if Zach Wilson can quickly turn the corner, this is a team that could be competing sooner rather than later.
