NFL: Ranking every quarterback midseason: 18. Trevor Lawrence – Jacksonville Jaguars

This one is going to be controversial. Trevor Lawrence was straight-up bad to start the season. If this list came out in Week 3, Lawrence would be near the bottom. However, the current number-one overall pick in the NFL Draft found a way to turn his season around. The Jaguars got their first win in more than a calendar year in London against the Miami Dolphins, and Lawrence was a huge reason why the team is no longer winless.

In the three weeks before the Jaguars’ bye week, Lawrence had a passer rating over 90 in each game. He’s minimizing his mistakes while maximizing the receivers on the field. He is building chemistry with Marvin Jones and tight end Dan Arnold, and things will get even better when DJ Chark returns from injury.

Lawrence is one of the better quarterback prospects to come out since Andrew Luck, and most people expect him to be in the top ten or even the top five of this list for most of his career. It started off rough, with Lawrence throwing for seven interceptions in his first three games in the NFL. This included an ugly loss to the Houston Texans, still their only win of the season. Something must have clicked in him because he stopped turning the ball over almost entirely.

This is the key to his continued ascent up this list. He will likely be in the top 15 by the season’s end if he continues on this trajectory. Lawrence is looking really good, and the Jaguars have to continue pushing for wins to get this guy moving in the right direction.
