NFL: Ranking every quarterback midseason: 14. Kirk Cousins – Minnesota Vikings

Kirk Cousins seems to be in this spot on the rankings since he took over the starting job from the Washington Football Team. He’s never really been considered a top-ten quarterback, but he’s never seen himself outside of the top 15. That’s why the Minnesota Vikings keep re-signing him. It’s incredibly hard to get someone better. Aaron Rodgers is one of the few QBs available and the Packers are not trading him to the Vikings.

Kirk Cousins has been throwing the ball a lot this season. He has two games with north of 48 attempts, and he’s never had less than 32 attempts in a game. The Vikings are leaning on him with Dalvin Cook in and out of the lineup this season. He’s done good enough to win every week.

The Vikings have beaten the bad teams on their schedule and lost to the good teams. They are as middle of the pack as any team in the league this year. Could they make the playoffs? Definitely. Is it on the back of Kirk Cousins? Probably. He’s not getting the world-beating season from Justin Jefferson that he got last season. Cook has been out like we said. Adam Thielen has been fine.

Cousins is avoiding mistakes despite the absolute volume he is throwing. If he keeps avoiding turnovers at this rate, he might move up on the list. Not past ten, though. Kirk Cousins isn’t allowed in the top ten.
