NFL: Ranking every quarterback midseason

NFL: Ranking every quarterback midseason: 6. Lamar Jackson – Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson is playing ping pong with a top-five quarterback distinction. He is in the MVP discussion one week, and he’s throwing the Ravens out of the game the next. His rushing is still super consistent, but his throwing goes from an elite level to less-than-anticipated very quickly.
Against the Cincinnati Bengals, Jackson was trying to do everything he could to get his team back in the game. He ended up throwing below 50%. He didn’t throw an interception like he did the week before against the Chargers, but the Ravens needed him to make plays and he just couldn’t.
That’s a rarity for Jackson. For all the questions about his throwing consistency, Jackson makes plays at an insane clip. When the Ravens need it, Jackson either runs for an inexplicable first down, or he throws a dime nobody really expected to come off his arm. The Ravens got themselves a really good quarterback late in the draft, and he is truly in the MVP conversation after how he started the season.
Jackson is still one of the greats in the league despite his inconsistencies. He is great more often than not. The Ravens have been dealt a bad hand with all the injuries, especially at the running back position. However, Jackson is doing what he can single-handedly to make up for those issues.
