The Tennessee Titan’s week is off the worst possible start, with the news that star RB Derrick Henry could be out for the season with a foot injury.

Derrick Henry was firmly in the MVP conversation going into the Week 8 game against the Indianapolis Colts, unfortunately for the Tennessee Titans, the running back would suffer a suspected foot injury during the game.

The bigger issue for the Titans is that news has come out that the injury is worse than first believed, and could be season-ending with a possible broken foot. Henry will undergo an MRI later on Monday, to fully determine the severity of the injury.

Henry, was on course for a 2,000-yard season and over 20 touchdowns, losing him for 2021 would not only be devastating for himself and the league but an irreplaceable loss for the Titans as they look to pick up down the stretch.

Should the scans return as expected, it could be possible that the Titans look to trade for a short-term replacement for Henry, with players like Ronald Jones, David Johnson, Tevin Coleman, and Mike Davis all said to be on the trade block and available.

For the Titans, Henry is more than just a running back. He is the focal point of their team and their offense. Former NFL Coach Rex Ryan said “There’s no player that means more to his football team than Derrick Henry,” and he’d be absolutely right.

Despite the other playmakers available in Nashville, Henry has always been the most important, making plays late in games and being Ryan Tannehill’s best asset to lean on. How Mike Vrabel’s team would change to get their offense going without their star is a good question, and one they will now have to answer.

The Titans will wait with bated breath on the scans for their star player, but should the results show that the RB has a broken foot as suspected, it’s hoped he could be back late in the season, though that is a long shot.
