Quarterly MVP Rankings: 12. Russell Wilson +3000

We hate to say that a certain player has no chance at winning the MVP award. After all, anything can happen. But, in the case of Russell Wilson, there’s absolutely no way he’ll take home this year’s MVP. It isn’t because Wilson isn’t good enough because he clearly is. it’s simply because the injury bug has hit him in a major way.

Unfortunately for Wilson and every Seattle Seahawk fan, he was forced to miss several weeks due to finger surgery. Originally, following his time under the knife, Wilson was expected to miss numerous weeks. However, he’s already back in the lab and throwing the football. Still, there’s no definitive timeline on his return.

Wilson may seem a bit superhuman with his ability to heal but he’ll be at a major disadvantage. For starters, with only 17 weeks to work with, missing any games puts players behind the eight ball in terms of winning awards. Second, and more importantly, Wilson’s Seahawks currently stands at 3-5 and out of the playoff picture.

The only way Wilson can come even close to winning the MVP is if he returns to the field much sooner than everyone originally thought. He’ll also need to lead them on an unbeaten run. Both of which are highly unlikely.
